Surface Duo 2 will receive three years of OS and security updates | Report

24 September 2021 0

Microsoft has reportedly confirmed the Surface Duo 2 will receive three years of updates. Microsoft took the wraps off the Surface Duo 2 alongside other Surface products at its hardware event held on September 22, but it didn’t really explain the software side of the things.

Now, a Microsoft representative has reportedly said to Android Authority that Surface Duo 2 will receive three years of OS and security updates.

“We are committed to providing three years of OS and security updates.”

It is good to see Microsoft pledging on bringing OS upgrades on time once again. It made a similar promise last year as well. It shared the same statement with the same publication right after the launch of the first-gen Surface Duo. But, perhaps, the company is still taking much time to fulfill the promise. The device went official last year in August, so we are already well past the mentioned rollout timeframe.

But, after the launch of the Surface Duo 2, Microsoft heaved a sigh of relief by affirming the Android 11 update for the first-gen Surface Duo will happen soon. In a reply to a different publication, Microsoft’s spokesperson reportedly said that the update will arrive before the end of this year. The exact timeframe is still unknown but it is good to note that Microsoft put a stopper on all the leaks that have been swirling around.
