At the annual hardware launch event, Amazon has taken wraps off the new Echo Show 15 alongside Halo View and Glow devices. The first one is the biggest smart display released by the Alexa creator. The second one is a fitness tracker and the last one is a projector and video calling device specifically meant for kids.
The Echo Show 15 is the biggest smart display device launched by Amazon. It can be mounted on the wall and can be used as a digital photo frame. It sports a 15.6-inch Full HD display which means even if you want to use it as a media consumption device, you will not feel disappointed.
It is powered by the Amazon AZ2 Neural Edge processor that is claimed to help with faster data processing and on-device voice recognition. The device can be used in both landscape and portrait orientations. If you wish to use it over the countertop like other Echo devices, that is possible as well.
The device supports all those apps that you would expect from an Alexa-powered product. Amazon says it will get support for TikTok and Sling in the near future. There is a 5-megapixel camera to help users with video calling and attending meetings. It comes with a camera shutter that provides an extra layer of security and privacy. The Echo Show 15 is priced at $249.99 with sales beginning later this year.
The Amazon Halo View is an improved fitness tracker version of the original offering Halo. The biggest difference is that the newest offering features a color OLED display. The previous did not have a display of any kind which alone makes the latest one worth the upgrade. It eliminates the need for taking out the phone whenever you want to check stats quickly.
The microphone support has been dropped on the Halo View which means there will not be any voice data collection this time around. However, users will get all other features like heart rate, blood oxygen level, and skin temperature. It is claimed to last for up to 1 week on a single full charge.
Amazon has priced the Halo View at $79.99 and bundled it with one year of Halo membership. Once the free trial is over, it will cost you $3.99 per month. The fitness tracker is available in Active Black, Sage Green, and Lavender Dream color options. One can also choose from 15 different color brands priced at $15 each. There are also some fancy material options like leather but these will cost you $30 each.
The Amazon Glow is a projector device meant specifically for kids. It is capable of broadcasting a 19-inch interactive screen on the surface. It supports all the apps and functionalities that you would get from the Echo kids device. The main difference is that Amazon claims kids tend to get bored quickly, especially when using those devices for video calls.
It can be used for different purposes like reading books, playing games, solving puzzles, and much more. Since the broadcast display is 19-inches, it means other family members can also participate in a more real-world-like scenario. However, Amazon Glow has been announced as part of an invite-only system. It means you will need to request an invite to get the device and if you are selected, you will have to pay $249.99. Amazon says it will cost $299.999 when it will become available for everyone but there is no timeline for that yet.
