Microsoft has announced a new major Skype update confirming that one of the classic video calling platforms is not going away anywhere soon. The team is ready to revamp the platform completely and that too across all major operating systems. It is claimed to be improved, faster, reliable, and super modern-looking when it arrives.
The new Skype version will bring a number of significant changes to Call Stage, the interface where you get to see yourself and all other participants. The app will keep the user in the main view of the video call. The team has made previews bigger for the Together Mode which used to be small previously.
There are a number of grid and layout options so that you can choose the preferred one depending on the device you are using. Skype is further said to be getting a number of performance improvements. Desktop users can expect up to a 30% performance boost and up to 2000% better performance on Android devices.
Meet Now functionality is also getting an overhaul in the future. It is a feature that allows users to join Skype video calls without having to sign-up for the service. The revamp will include a completely new lobby. The app will also get support for all major web browsers including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari, and Opera.
