Google has finally announced when the Pixel 6 series will launch. In a tweet, Google shared it is holding a Pixel Fall Launch event on Tuesday, October 19. Google has also shared a link that navigates us to a webpage that showcases the Pixel 6 phone featuring Material You design language with some animating elements in 3D.
If you remember, Google previewed the Pixel 6 back in August where it was made official that the launch will happen this fall and today, after a long wait, it has announced the official date.
This is possibly the company’s first-ever event dedicated to Pixel phones alone. For comparison, the giant has introduced its new Pixel series along with other new hardware in the past. One reason for a Pixel-only event this time around is that the company has developed its own SoC and this indeed requires a special event to elaborate the intricacies.
We assume that Google will also announce the official release date for Android 12 for Pixel phones at the event. Just so you know, the company has only dropped the Android 12 as AOSP, but it did say that the update will be released in the “next few weeks.” The timeframe falls in place with the Pixel 6 launch, so expect Google to unearth more details on the OS on the same day.
The Pixel 6 series is expected to go official at least in eight countries - France, Germany, Japan, Australia, Canada, Taiwan, United States, and the United Kingdom. Google’s SVP Devices also confirmed that Pixel 6 Pro is going to be an expensive model. It is also confirmed that the Pixel 6 series will be shipped without an in-box charger.
Apart from Google’s own revelations, several leaks have tried to tip on other aspects, including the price details.
In case you want to set a reminder for the Pixel 6 event, you can do so by clicking on the "Add to Calendar" button on the webpage. Alternatively, you can also download the .ics (calendar file) and run it on your system to get the reminder. The event will commence on October 19 at 10 am PT.
