Samsung's current-generation foldable smartphones are proving to be a hit, at least in its homeland South Korea. As per The Korea Herald, the company has managed to sell over 1 million Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 units. These foldable were announced on August 11th which makes the feat even more incredible.
It means Samsung shipped over 1 million foldable within just 39 days since the launch. This is the third quickest Samsung device to reach the mark. The first two rank holders are the Galaxy S8 flagship and Galaxy Note 10 phablet. It is undoubtedly a huge achievement for the company, especially considering foldable are yet to become a mainstream product.
Another important bit of insight is that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 accounted for over 70% of total sales. This is not surprising as it is the more affordable option between the two devices. Among all the buyers, more than half belonged to Generation Z aka millennials. This was confirmed by one of the company's spokesperson.
Lastly, the company revealed that it received 920,000 pre-bookings for both the Galaxy Z foldable devices. It said about 270,000 of these buyers activated the phone on the first day itself. These are early days for both foldable smartphones and we can only expect these numbers to go up.
