Oppo has now unveiled the Android 12-based ColorOS 12 after unveiling the China-specific version first in September. Alongside the official release, Oppo has also announced the ColorOS 12 public beta roll-out global schedule.
As per the timeline, the public beta rollout will begin in October, starting with Find X3 Pro 5G. The rest of the Find X3 series might have to wait until next year. The current rollout covers only Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
In November, Find X2, Reno6 Pro 5G, Reno6 Pro 5G Diwali Edition, and Reno6 5G will receive the update. The rest of the devices and the markets will receive the update by the second half of 2022. Oppo mentions that it plans to roll out the new ColorOS to over 110 devices and 150 million devices throughout the rest of 2021 and 2022.
The new OS also has many privacy, security, and productivity features, along with a redesigned user interface. Oppo claims the new ColorOS 12 is built on top of Oppo’s Infinite Design Concept, which is lightweight, clean, and highly customizable. It has softer icons, animations, and information frameworks that are friendly to different languages and cultures. Oppo also touts the ColorOS 12 is packed with security and privacy features from Android 12, including Privacy Dashboards.
Currently, there is no official roadmap for the global OnePlus devices. For now, only the Chinese versions of OnePlus’ handsets are getting the ColorOS 12.
