After much anticipation, the OnePlus 9RT has finally gone official in China. This year, OnePlus decided to skip the ‘T’ moniker of the regular OnePlus 9 device and instead bring an enhanced version of the gaming-centric OnePlus 9R with the ‘T’ moniker.
The OnePlus 9RT packs up so many improvements over the OnePlus 9R, from a display boasting of 600Hz touch sampling rate to an upgraded 50MP camera. These upgrades might look minor on paper but they are quite substantial.
Looks-wise, the OnePlus 9RT appears similar to the OnePlus 9R, however, the differences start to appear from the arrangement of rear cameras. The OnePlus 9RT carries three cameras compared to the four cameras present on the vanilla OnePlus 9R.
The primary snapper on the OnePlus 9RT is upgraded to a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor with OIS as the primary lens. It is the same sensor that is present on the OnePlus Nord 2, an upgrade over the 48MP sensor. The other two sensors included in the setup are a 16MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with a 123-degree FOV and a 2MP macro sensor.
OnePlus has upgraded the display support as well so to further pitch the phone as a gaming-centric phone. To be precise, the OnePlus 9RT phone now supports a 600Hz touch sampling rate as opposed to the 240Hz touch sampling rate of its predecessor. OnePlus claims, the new sampling rate will lead to 57% and 47% improvement in click delay and slide delay, respectively. The phone also supports a new five-layer cooling system to keep the phone cool in case of extensive gameplay.
Furthermore, the screen size has been slightly increased to 6.62-inch with Full HD+ Fluid AMOLED display, while the 120Hz screen refresh rate remains the same.
Another major upgrade includes Snapdragon 888 processor. The SoC is further coupled with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. The OnePlus 9RT runs ColorOS12 based on Android 12 out-of-the-box. The device should launch with OxygenOS 12 based on Android 12 in international markets.
The OnePlus 9RT houses a 4,500mAh battery with 65W Warp charging support. The phone includes an under-display fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options include a USB-C port, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, and 5G.
OnePlus 9RT is priced at CNY 3,299 ($511/Rs. 38,599) for the 8GB+128GB base variant, whereas the higher-end 8GB+256GB CNY 3,499 ($542/Rs. 40,999) and 12GB RAM with 256GB variant cost CNY 3,799 ($589/ Rs. 44,450).
