The current-gen affordable and compact iPhone SE was announced in 2020 and fans have been waiting for a successor for quite some time. There have been a number of rumors as well but it is now time for a new leak. Apple is now tipped to announce iPhone SE Plus as the next model in the lineup in 2022 followed by the iPhone SE 3 release in 2024.
The latest bit of information is shared by display market expert Ross Young on Twitter. He said that the iPhone SE model that people are hearing about for next year's release is actually the iPhone SE Plus. It will sport the same 4.7-inch LCD display and product design as the current-gen model. The biggest difference will be the addition of 5G connectivity.
As for the iPhone SE 3, Apple is said to have postponed the launch until 2024. It will be a bigger display variant expected to feature a display between 5.7-inch and 6.1-inch. It will be a good choice for those who want a new and affordable iPhone but without settling for a smaller-sized display.
We now hear the next LCD iPhone will be introduced in 2022 and called the SE Plus with the same 4.7" LCD as the 8 along with 5G. We hear the iPhone SE3 with a 5.7" - 6.1" LCD is now pushed to 2024. https://t.co/9gxiAAk8Yi— Ross Young (@DSCCRoss) October 25, 2021
It seems like Apple will continue offering Touch ID on the iPhone SE model. It means the physical home button is here to stay, at least for the foreseeable future.
