Twitter will let you customize its app's navigation bar for quick access

Twitter might bring the ability to let you customize the navigation bar present on the bottom of its mobile app on iOS as well as Android platforms.

App researcher Alessandro Paluzzi who is known for hunting down hidden features on Twitter and other social networks has now come up with a new finding. As per what has been uncovered, users will be able to customize the navigation bar their way. Users can simply change the tabs present on the navigation bar and switch with the ones they frequently use. As per the researcher, users can customize two to six items on the bar, with the Home icon being mandatory.

Currently, there are four options available on the navigation bar - Home button, Explore, Notifications, and Messages. Now, this could change in the near future as per the researcher.

You can only put a maximum of six tabs and a minimum of two tabs in the navigation bar. And, yes the Home button remains at its position because personalization doesn’t mean you can play with the fundamentals of UX.

As evident from the screenshot shared by the researcher, the user has selected five tabs from the Custom navigation settings page. Other than the Home button, these are Explore, Bookmarks, Communities, Messages, and Profile. You can replace any icons with your choices like Monetization and Spaces. So, you can choose the most useful shortcuts to add to the navigation bar and enjoy quick access to your favorite options.

It is worth notable that Twitter now also features Spaces and Communities on its app and they require sort of attention too. By giving the power of customization, Twitter can also put its new offerings at the forefront.

The new customization feature is still under development and can take time to show up for everyone.

The app researcher believes that Twitter will restrict the new feature to Twitter Blue subscribers only, which costs $2.99 per month.
