It was last year when WhatsApp introduced native support for UPI-powered payments in India. It allows users to make payments directly from the instant messenger app without having to switch to other payment apps. In an attempt to encourage users to make payments through the app, it even added a payment button next to the file attachment icon.
WhatsApp has now started testing payment cashback with the same goal of attracting users. The feature is said to be under testing for both Android and iOS users and that too selected ones. As per shared screenshots, WhatsApp Pay is offering INR 51 cashback on payments of at least INR 1.
It is reported that users can get INR 51 cashback for sending payments to five different contacts. It means an individual user can grab a total cashback of INR 255. The Payments section within the app will show you the number of payments made and the total cashback earned. It also lists when did you make a particular payment and to whom.
WhatsApp Pay cashbacks are currently under beta testing. It means unless you have been selected for the beta test, there is no way for you to get access. This is the reason we would suggest you stay patient and it will become available for you or it rolls out to everyone. We will keep you updated as more developments will take place.
