Telegram 8.2 adds calendar view for shared media, hyper-speed scrolling

05 November 2021 0

Telegram has released a new app update i.e. Telegram v8.2 that brings a host of new features. The major ones include hyper-speed scrolling, calendar view for shared media, global chat themes, and admin control for invite links. These changes are available for both Android and iOS users

Starting with hyper-speed scrolling and calendar view for shared media, both of these features are aimed at making it convenient and faster for users to find particular shared media files. There is a new date bar on the right side that works like a seek bar. So if you are looking for a media file from a particular month of a particular year, you will be able to reach it pretty quickly.

One can also zoom in and out of the thumbnail previews as per one's need. There is also a calendar view that shows thumbnail previews in the calendar form. These previews are based on the media files that were sent on a particular day. It is simply another way of making it convenient to look for media files.

Telegram has been allowing users to share invite links so that others can join their groups with ease. It has now added a new Request Admin Approval setting where admins can be in control of who actually gets to join. This will be helpful in ensuring that only those people join the group for whom the link was meant. Admins will be able to see profile pictures and bio of users to decide whether to approve or reject their requests. And yes, these links can also be named for better organization.

The update further brings support for global chat themes on iOS. It will allow users to pick a chat theme that can now be applied to the whole app with just one tap. This new functionality will arrive on Android in the near future. The iOS app will also show estimated travel time by foot, car, and public transport for shared locations.
