Vivo has announced a new budget Y-series smartphone Vivo Y15A in the Philippines. The phone is packed with specifications that are in line with what you would expect from a 2021 budget phone. The main highlight is support for extended RAM functionality where it utilizes 1GB of onboard storage as virtual RAM to offer a cumulative 5GB of RAM.
The Vivo Y15A sports a 6.51-inch HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels) display with a dotted notch with the standard 60Hz refresh rate. The choice of processor is the MediaTek Helio P35 There is a single 4GB of RAM option available with 64GB of onboard storage. It also has microSD card support for storage expansion purposes.
The dual rear camera setup includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 2-megapixel macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The selfie camera on the phone is an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture. There is a 5,000mAh battery to keep the lights on and is supported by 10W fast charging. The phone also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It will ship with Funtouch OS 11.1 based on Android 11.
As for the pricing, the Vivo Y15A will cost PHP 7,999 (about $160) for the sole 4GB/64GB model. It is unknown when the phone will go on sale but it will be sold in Mystic Blue and Wave Green color options.
