Amazon Photos app for iOS gets complete redesign, memories feature

17 November 2021 0

Amazon has announced a new Amazon Photos app update for iOS users. Amazon Photos 8.0 for iOS comes with a complete design overhaul. There are also a bunch of features to help users find photos from the past easily and faster. The new version is Amazon's attempt at making the app a legit Google Photos alternative.

Starting with UI change, the new Amazon Photos app design is all about a smooth navigation experience. It means as you will browse through photos or go from one window to another, it will all feel effortless. All options and navigation bar placement has been altered to ensure that everything is within “a thumb’s reach.”

The team has put special emphasis on the memories aspect of using photo storage and management app. There will now be customized slideshows/collages and a regularly updated memories feed. The latter is similar to how Google Photos keeps showing photos from the past. These will be connected to a particular theme like on this day, special trips, moments together, and the season's highlights.

The new version further comes with an improved search and filter functionality. It is meant to help you find what you are looking for as soon as possible. You can now look for photos on the basis of different criteria like people, places, and dates. You can even combine these criteria for more refined results. For example, you can search for a particular person's photos from a particular day and when you visited a particular place.

Amazon says the new Amazon Photos 8.0 app is available for download on the App Store. All Prime members will continue getting unlimited, full-resolution photo storage and 5GB of video storage. However, it is unknown when these changes will land on Android devices.
