It has barely been a month since the Pixel 6 series went official but we have already started hearing Pixel 6a rumors. It is a phone that will be a toned-down version of the flagships. Its main audience will be those users who want the Pixel experience but do not want to or cannot afford to spend as much as a proper flagship.
The Pixel 6a is already tipped to have a design that resembles the Pixel 6 and now, a new 9to5Google report has detailed some of the specifications of the phone. It says that despite being an affordable version, the Pixel 6a will have the same Tensor chipset as the flagship models. It is a custom processor developed by Google specifically for Pixel devices.
Google is reported to have codenamed the phone as Bluejay. It is the camera department where the Pixel 6a is said to be underpowered as compared to the Pixel 6 series. There is expected to be a 12.3-megapixel Sony IMX363 primary sensor on the back panel. It is the camera sensor that we have seen Google use with Pixel 3, Pixel 4, and Pixel 5 series devices which should give you an idea of how old it actually is. In comparison, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro devices come with a 50-megapixel primary camera.
The phone is tipped to have two more cameras i.e. 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 ultra-wide-angle and an 8-megapixel Sony IMX355 front camera. In other words, it will have a dual rear camera setup and a single selfie shooter. This is pretty much what is known about the smartphone for now.
