MediaTek Dimensity 9000 to be twice as costly as predecessor | Report

29 November 2021 0

MediaTek's next-gen flagship processor Dimensity 9000 has already caught everyone's attention. It was announced a little over a week ago and if a new report is to be believed, its features are not the only thing that will make heads turn. The processor is tipped to cost as much as double predecessor 5G processors.

The affordability of chipsets like Dimensity 1100 and Dimesity 1200 meant that they were used in smartphones offering premium specs at cheaper pricing. These phones include the likes of the OnePlus Nord 2 5G and Realme X7 Max 5G. The increased pricing suggests that we are likely to see it in high-end flagships, a segment where we either see Qualcomm Snapdragon or Samsung Exynos chipsets.

The leak about the pricing details is coming from Digital Chat Station, a Weibo-based tipster. He further mentioned that despite Dimensity 9000 price getting a jump, it will still be cheaper than Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It is the upcoming premium flagship processor from Qualcomm that will go official on November 30th i.e. tomorrow.

The price difference between the two processors means that flagships powered by MediaTek's offering will cost relatively cheaper than Qualcomm's. It is unknown what OEMs will opt for which processor and more interestingly for which particular models. We will keep you posted as and when more details will emerge.
