YouTube Premium 'Listening Controls' released for all Android, iOS users

02 December 2021 0

YouTube has started rolling out a new YouTube Premium feature for all paying subscribers. This new feature is called Listening Controls that will make it easier to control video playback. It was under testing for the past few months and now seems to be rolling out globally. It is available on both Android and iOS devices.

Once Listening Controls are enabled, you will see that everything below the video playback window has been replaced with a new interface. The center of this new UI shows the name of the video as well as the channel. It is followed by playback controls including play/pause, next/previous video, and the ability to fast forward/rewind the clip by 10 seconds. There is a bottom row where you will get options to like the video, add it to a playlist, and adjust the playback speed.

As for how you can access YouTube Premium Listening Controls, there are two ways to do that. The first and the easiest one is to simply tap on the view playback window once it starts playing. You will see the "Listening Controls" button on the screen itself and tapping on it is all you need to do. The second way is to tap the three-dot icon in the top right corner when the video is playing. You will need to choose the Listening Controls option from the list.

It is important to note that not all YouTube users will get access to Listening Controls. It is available only for YouTube Premium users which is a paid subscription. It offers various exclusive features to users including ad-free video playback, background video playback, and free access to YouTube Music.
