Vivaldi 5.0 for Android brings two row of tabs and side-panels

03 December 2021 0

Vivaldi has released Vivaldi 5.0 version for Android devices around the world. The newest browser build is available for both smartphones and tablet users. There are a number of new features to talk about including support for double rows of tabs and side panels for bigger screen devices.

The double-decker tabs are an expansion of the Vivaldi desktop browser feature to the world of Android devices. It means users who open multiple tabs on their Android devices can now divide them into two rows. It is aimed at making it easier to manage those tabs as well as to access the needed one quickly. The team decided to bring it to Android users after receiving a lot of positive feedback from desktop users.

The second row will not be enabled by default. A user will need to press and hold on to the New Tab button and then select the New Tab Stack option. This is how you will be able to manage your tabs by separating them into two rows. You can easily move tabs from one row to another by simply dragging and dropping. And yes, you can also hide the second row when not needed so that you can have some extra space to use on the display.

Vivaldi 5.0 lets you create stacks of tabs which can be beneficial when you are researching for something online. To do this, you will simply need to drag one tab on top of another to create a stack. The tab bar can also be placed either at the top or bottom depending on your preference. The browser further lets you remove the "X" icon from all tabs except for the currently opened one to save some space. If you want to save even more space, you can shrink each tab to the size of the favicon. Both these options are available through the browser settings.

For Chromebook and Android tablet users, Vivaldi 5.0 brings support for Panels so that they can take full advantage of the bigger display area. The Panel comprises different browsing features like bookmarks, notes, downloads, and history among others. It will pop up from the left side whenever needed.
