Motorola has officially unveiled the Edge X30 flagship smartphone in China. It is the world's first smartphone with Qualcomm's Snap 8 Gen 1 processor that was announced just last week. The phone is packed with all the high-end specifications and features that you would expect from a 2022 flagship. It has another variant named Edge X30 Special Edition that comes with the under-display selfie camera. It also announced another premium phone Edge S30 at the same event.
The Motorola Edge X30 sports a 6.7-inch Full HD+ OLED punch-hole display with up to 144Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ content compatibility. The Special Edition variant does not have a punch-hole as it comes with under-display camera tech. Under the hood, it has the Snap 8 Gen 1 processor claimed to deliver up to 20% CPU performance boost, 30% GPU performance boost, and 400% AI performance boost as compared to the previous generation. These numbers have been shared by Motorola based on its own internal testing of the two chipsets.
The phone has a vertically-aligned triple camera setup featuring a 50-megapixel OmniVision sensor with OIS, a 50-megapixel ISOCELL ultra-wide sensor, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. It is capable of shooting videos in up to 8K resolution. The front camera on the phone is a 60-megapixel sensor.
The whole package is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 68W fast charging. The good thing is that the phone will boot Android 12, the latest Android version. The phone is expected to go on sale starting December 15th in China.
