Apple pushes iOS 15.2, macOS 12.1, watchOS 8.3 with new features

Apple has begun releasing new software updates for all of its eligible devices spread across different categories. The new versions include iOS 15.2, iPadOS 15.2, macOS 12.1, watchOS 8.3, and tvOS 15.2. All of these builds were under beta testing for quite some time and it is now time for the stable rollout. The good thing is that these updates also bring new features and are not just about bugs fixes and performance improvements.

Starting with iOS 15.2 and iPadOS 15.2 updates for iPhone and iPad, the biggest change is the availability of the Apple Music Voice plan. It is a new and most affordable plan for Apple's music streaming service that was originally announced in October. It costs $4.99 per month and allows users to access the complete catalog through Siri. You can ask Siri to play any song, playlist, album, artist, and station. It can also offer you suggestions based on your likes and dislikes as well as listening history.

The much-awaited App Privacy Report feature has finally made its way to public release. It can be enabled by visiting Privacy settings and will give you a report of how often apps have accessed your location, photos, camera, microphone, contacts, and more during the last seven days. It is now possible to assign a contact as a Legacy Contact to your Apple ID who will get access to your iCloud and personal information in the event of your death. Lastly, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max users can now use macro photo controls for the Ultra-wide sensor if they wish to.

The biggest change added to macOS Monterey 12.1 is SharePlay support. It is a feature that arrived for all other Apple devices in October but Mac users were left waiting. The new version further adds Apple Music Voice Plan, the new Photos app with redesigned Memories, and Digital Legacy support.

If you are an Apple Watch user, the watchOS 8.3 update adds the Voice plan of Apple Music and App Privacy Report support. These are the two biggest changes for smartwatch users. As for tvOS 15.2 build, the official changelog is not available suggesting that it only has bug fixes and performance improvements.
