LG Wing Android 11 update is now rolling out on Verizon

14 December 2021 0

It is good news for LG Wing users in the United States as the phone is now receiving Android 11. It is the first major Android upgrade for the phone which was the last major smartphone to launch before LG shut down its smartphone business. The phone debuted last year with Android 10 and is now time for a newer version.

It should be noted that the LG Wing Android 11 update is currently rolling out for Verizon users. It is unknown when other models will get it but that should happen sooner than later. It is an over-the-air update that should become available on your particular unit anytime soon. You can also check for it manually by visiting system settings. It is advised that you are connected to WiFi before downloading the update and have at least 50% battery before installation.

Here is the official changelog for the LG Wing Android 11 update:

  • Conversation bubbles: notify you of a new message via a floating bubble. In Settings > Notifications > Conversation notifications, you can see the full list of conversations to set up for bubble notifications.
  • Tap & pay/NFC: Tap & pay is now shown when NFC is on, and disappears when it is off. Tap & pay has also moved from Default apps to under Settings > Connected devices > NFC.
  • Mobile Hotspot: Removed the "Manage connections" and "802.11 mode" menu
  • Wireless Emergency Alert menu and settings have been updated

The good thing is that LG Wing is officially listed among the devices said to receive Android 12 and Android 13. It means there are at least two more major upgrades to look forward to for users. However, they should not expect to be among the first ones to receive the update.
