Instagram to let users share 60 seconds long video stories without segmentation

16 December 2021 0

Instagram Stories are a widely used way for users to share something with their followers that they do not want to keep posted permanently on the feed. It supports sharing both photos and videos as stories but when it comes to the latter, there is a limit of 15 seconds for individual clips. This is something many users do not like about Stories and that is exactly what Instagram is finally changing.

As per 9to5Mac, Instagram has started rolling out a new increased 60-second limit to select users. It means as long as the shared video is u to 60 seconds long, the app will not auto-split it into multiple 15-second clips. The feature was first spotted and shared by a Turkish user who received a pop-up after launching Instagram.

It is unknown whether it is a wider release of the feature or Instagram is simply doing initial testing. It is a common practice for social media platform companies to try out new features with a select group of users. They proceed with a mass rollout once they are satisfied with the feedback from those early testers.

It was just last year when Instagram expanded the time limit for posting Reels to 60 seconds. It wanted creators to have more time to express their creativity and unique content. In other changes, the app recently added an option to allow users to delete an image from a carousel even after posting it.
