It was last month when MediaTek introduced us to Dimensity 9000, its next-gen Android flagship processor. The chipset had everyone's attention instantly, thanks to impressive on-paper specifications and features. It is being seen as the first true contender from MediaTek to take on the dominance of Qualcomm Snapdragon. If you were wondering when and in what devices we can expect to see this new chip, we finally have official answers.
MediaTek has now revealed that Dimensity 9000 will debut on Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, and Honor smartphones. These phones will launch during Q1 2022 i.e. by the end of March next year. It did not offer details on what OEM will release the phone first and we will have to wait to know that. However, we do have some idea about two of these upcoming phones.
Lu Weibing, Vice President and General Manager of Redmi, has already confirmed that the Redmi K50 series will arrive with the Dimensity 9000 processor but did not specify the exact model. Next, Oppo's VP Henry Duan mentioned that the next-gen Find X4 lineup will feature MediaTek's best. It is confirmed that the Find X4 Pro will be powered by Qualcomm's Snap 8 Gen 1 processor which means, we could see the standard Find X4 loaded with the Dimensity flagship.
To give you an overview of Dimensity 9000, it is a premium processor based on the 4nm manufacturing process and ARM's v9 architecture. There is an 18-bit image signal processor (ISP) capable of clicking still images of up to 320-megapixels resolution. And as one would expect, it is capable of supporting 5G connectivity.
