UPDATE (December 22nd, 2021):

Realme has finally revealed that it will launch the Realme GT 2 Pro on January 4th. The launch event is specifically for the Chinese market and will mark the world debut of the new Realme GT 2 series. It will be the first premium flagship from Realme and should make its way to other markets around the world as well.

Realme held its much-awaited event yesterday but to many's disappointment, it did not launch the Realme GT 2 Pro. Instead, it talked about three "world's first" innovations that will arrive with the company's first-ever premium flagship. The phone will be powered by Qualcomm's Snap 8 Gen 1 chipset and these innovations revolve around design, photography, and communication.

Starting with the design, Realme has partnered with a renowned Japanese industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa for a new design language it calls Paper Tech Master Design. He is the same designer that previously worked with Realme on Master Edition smartphones. The new design is said to be sustainable and inspired by paper. The phone's back panel is made up of a bio-polymer material by SABIC. The team has further opted for a new box packaging for the Realme GT 2 Pro that uses fewer plastics. It is claimed to have brought down the overall plastic ratio from 21.7% to just 0.3%.

The Realme GT 2 Pro is next claimed to be the world's first smartphone to feature a 150-degree field-of-view ultra-wide-angle camera. This is said to deliver a 278% wider view area than the 89-degree primary wide-angle sensor on the phone. Realme has also added a fisheye camera mode that will allow users to capture shots with "ultra-long depth of field effect."

Lastly, Realme has packed the upcoming flagship with an Antenna Array Matrix System. It is touted to have the world's first "Ultra Wide Band HyperSmart Antenna Switching", a WiFi enhancer, and 360-degree NFC technology. The HyperSmart tech is said to make use of 12 wrap-around antennas that cover all sides of the smartphone. This will allow the phone to support all mainstream bands from almost all directions with the same signal strength. Eventually, the phone will be able to evaluate the signal strength and automatically select the best available network.

The WiFi enhancer has a symmetrical antenna design for up to 20% better signal stability around the phone. This is in comparison to the asymmetrical antenna design. The new 360-degree NFC tech on the phone utilizes the top two network antennas claimed to boost NFC coverage by up to 500% and sensing distance by up to 20%.

The Realme GT 2 Pro isn't still available. To be notified when it becomse available click here.
