Xiaomi has officially confirmed that it will take waps off the Xiaomi 12 series on December 28th. The launch event will take place in Beijing, China, and kick off at 7:30 PM local time. The announcement was made through a Weibo post by the company's official account. The post also accompanied a launch poster featuring Su Bingtian, a Chinese athlete.
The Xiaomi 12 series is expected to have at least three models: Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 12X. The first two will be premium flagships powered by Qualcomm's latest Snap 8 Gen 1 processor. The third model is tipped to feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset. There are rumors of a fourth model i.e. Xiaomi 12 Ultra but we have not heard about it as often.
The two Xiaomi 12 flagships have been teased to sport an edge-to-edge display with rounded corners. It also has a punch-hole in the center for housing a selfie camera. The triple rear camera setup is expected to have a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 50-megapixel telephoto sensor with up to 5X optical zoom.
The whole lineup is also confirmed to be the first one to come pre-installed with MIUI 13. It is the latest iteration of Xiaomi's custom Android skin for its smartphones and tablets. The new version is under internal beta testing for a long time. While the Xiaomi 12 lineup and other recent models will get it based on Android 12, many older models will have it based on Android 11.
