Motorola was one of the early OEMs to enter the foldable market but it has been over a year since it released a new foldable device i.e. Razr 5G. Many of the fans have been waiting for a new model since then and now, it is finally getting closer to release. It is now officially confirmed that the next-gen Moto Razr foldable is under works.
Chen Jin, a Lenovo executive, shared on Weibo that Motorola has started working on the third generation of the Razr series. It is unknown whether the company will continue with the clamshell folding mechanism or opt for a different one. He did reveal that Razr 3 will be more powerful than its predecessors and have a better design.
Motorola's current-gen foldables Motor Razr (2019) and Moto Razr 5G (2020) are not exactly powerful devices. These are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7-series chipsets which means they are essentially upper mid-range offerings. Since the company is teasing the third-gen to be more powerful, we can expect it to come with a Snapdragon 8-series processor.
It is true that a lot of details about the Razr 3 are unknown but from the first glimpse, it seems like Motorola is moving in the right direction when we look at the competition. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Flip 3, Huawei's Mate X2 and P50 Pocket, and even Oppo's first foldable Find N are really powerful devices.
