Xiaomi unveils MIUI 13 based on Android 12 and eligible devices list

29 December 2021 0

As Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 12 flagship series in China, it also took wraps off MIUI 13 based on Android 12. It is the newest iteration of custom Android skin meant for Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco smartphones and tablets. It is based on the latest Android version but for older generation devices, it will have Android 11 underneath.

MIUI 13 is said to be expanding beyond smartphones and tablets. It now includes various AIoT devices like smartwatches, smart TVs, and smart speakers. This will allow Xiaomi to offer deeper connectivity across all its devices and offer an improved ecosystem with seamless communication.

Xiaomi says MIUI 13 will bring improvements to app launches and animations. It says there will be up to 23% fewer drops in its own apps and up to 15% fewer drops in third-party apps. The multitasking capabilities have also been improved as it will now let users keep up to 14 apps opened in the background on a flagship device.

It has introduced face verification protection, privacy watermark, and fraud protection for better privacy and security. The first feature will essentially scan the full upper body of the user so that even if two users have similar faces, they can still be differentiated on the basis of body type.
