iPhone 14 Pro to have punch-hole camera, under-display Face ID | Report

07 January 2022 0

There was a time when notched displays were the norm in the smartphone industry but with time, Android counterparts also started offering other designs like punch-hole and pop-up selfie cameras. Apple, on another hand, has continued with the notch since its debut on the iPhone X in 2017. The only major difference has been a relatively smaller notch on iPhone 13 models but going forward, it seems like Cupertino tech giant is finally ready to bid farewell to notches.

The latest tweet from reliable tipster Dylan (@dylandkt) claims that Apple will launch iPhone 14 Pro with a punch-hole camera. This is for both the Pro models i.e. iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The leak corroborates previous rumors that we have heard from different sources like analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and tipster Jon Prosser.

The leak further says that the punch-hole will be pill-shaped as compared to the commonly used circular hole. It will house only the camera sensor and the whole Face ID stuff will be under-display. The tipster has assured that the Face ID functionality and reliability have not been affected due to these major changes.

It is currently unknown whether non-Pro models will also get these new design changes. However, we have heard rumors that we may get to see iPhones without physical SIM card slots this year.
