JioPhone 5G specs get leaked, launch tipped for later this year

25 January 2022 0

India's biggest cellular network provider Jio is reportedly readying a 5G capable smartphone for the market. The report is coming from Android Central citing insider sources familiar with the plans. This will be the company's first 5G product which will be meant to take full advantage of the 5G network rollout in the country.

The report reveals that the alleged JioPhone 5G will support N3, N5, N28, N40, and N78 bands. This should help it deliver 5G connectivity pan India. It should be noted that India already has a bunch of mid-range and flagship devices that are capable of supporting 5G networks. There is a good chance that Jio's offering will be the most affordable one as and when it arrives.

In terms of specs, the JioPhone 5G is tipped to sport a 6.5-inch HD+ display with 1600 x 720 pixels resolution. The team has reportedly opted for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G processor. There will likely be a single configuration of 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage along with support for microSD cards.

The phone will have a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The battery capacity is tipped to be 5,000mAh with 18W fast charging. Jio is tipped to offer a more contemporary design with the 5G device including slim bezels and a punch-hole cutout. This will be different from the previously used thick bezels designs like we saw with the JioPhone Next.

The report further adds that the aforementioned specs are only for one particular model. Jio has plans to release multiple models with different spec sheets. The launch is expected to happen sometime during this year but an exact timeline is unknown.
