Facebook Messenger team is working on offering a safe and secure way to chat with users for a long time. It expanded end-to-end encryption voice and video calls a few months ago. It is now time for new features and changes that are meant to improve the overall experience of indulging in an end-to-end encryption conversation.

The latest post reveals that encryption for group chats including voice and video calls is now available for everyone. It was initially available to select users as part of the testing phase. It should be noted that encryption is not enabled by default and needs to be turned on manually. The team wants to make it the default setting but that cannot happen before 2023 due to ongoing conversations with regulators.

Facebook has now added a screenshot alert feature for disappearing messages. This is similar to Snapchat and will alert users when a recipient will try to capture a screenshot of a message sent in the vanish mode. The team has also added support for Reactions, GIFs, and Stickers within end-to-end encryption chats to help you express yourself better.

It is now possible to send replies to specific messages for encrypted chats. This can be done either by tapping and holding or by swiping left on the particular message. Other noteworthy features added by the team include typing indicators, message forwarding, verified badges for verified accounts, save media files, and quick video editing tools.
