YouTube on Android, iOS getting redesigned full-screen UI

02 February 2022 0

YouTube app for Android and iOS is now receiving a redesigned full-screen user interface. This new design is aimed at allowing users to do more without ruining the full-screen video-watching experience. It shows a bunch of YouTube options on the left bottom corner with no need to swipe up.

This new UI has controls for a video like, dislike, comments, save to playlist, and share. It shows the "More Videos" option on the right side that can be tapped to access video suggestions. Another major UI change is that the three-dot icon has been replaced by the standard settings gear icon in the top right corner.

The redesign should improve the overall full-screen video watching experience. One of the biggest benefits is that users can now browse and read comments in the landscape mode as well. Previously, they had to switch to portrait mode if they wish to access the comments section.

The new YouTube UI rollout has already begun for both Android and iOS devices. However, you may not see it right away. This is a gradual rollout and you need to be patient if you are not seeing it already. It is advised that you install any pending updates that you may have.
