Samsung unveils Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S22 Ultra globally

Samsung has officially taken wraps off its next-gen Android flagship series Galaxy S22. It features three models named Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra. The whole lineup is packed with superior display technology, camera performance, long-lasting battery, and high-end features. The Ultra model is essentially a Galaxy Note as it comes bundled with an S Pen stylus.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is the most premium and feature-rich smartphone in the lineup. It is meant to deliver the best of both worlds i.e. Galaxy Note and Galaxy S series. In other words, this is the phone if you were hoping for Samsung to release a new Galaxy Note device since the Galaxy Note 20 launch.

It is the first Galaxy S-series phone that comes bundled with S Pen. The Galaxy S21 Ultra also has support for the stylus but it needs to be purchased separately and it does not have the stylus holder either. Samsung says that the new S Pen will offer 70% lower latency for a more natural writing and drawing feel.


Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Specs:

  • 6.8-inch Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate (Game Mode)
  • Exynos 2200 or Qualcomm Snap 8 Gen 1 processor (depending on region)
  • 8GB and 12GB RAM
  • 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage
  • Quad rear cameras: 12MP ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture, 108MP wide sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 10MP telephoto sensor with f/2.4 aperture (3x optical zoom), and 10MP telephoto sensor with f/4.9 aperture (10x optical zoom)
  • 40MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture
  • 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired fast charging and 15W wireless fast charging
  • One UI 4.1 based on Android 12
  • IP68 rating, under-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, 5G, Bluetooth 5.2, and WiFi 6E

It will be sold in Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green, and Burgundy color options. The exact configuration variants will be 8GB/128GB, 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, and 12GB/1TB. It will go on sale starting February 25th via online and offline retailers.

  • 12GB/256GB for $1,300
  • 12GB/512GB for $1,400

Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+

The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ feature a design that is similar to the previous generation. Both these smartphones share the majority of the specifications. The standard Galaxy S22 sports a 6.1-inch Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate in Game mode. The Plus model offers the same panel but is relatively bigger at 6.6-inches.

The second biggest difference is that the two phones are powered by 3,700mAh and 4,500mAh batteries respectively. The vanilla model has 25W wired fast charging and the Plus model has 45W fast charging. There is 15W wireless fast charging available on both smartphones.

Samsung will start selling both Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ on February 25th. The available color options are Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green, and Pink Gold.

  • 8GB/128GB for $800 and $1,000
  • 8GB/256GB for $850 for $1,050
