After a long wait that was about to stretch to a year, Asus has finally launched its flagship device Asus 8z in India. It is the rebranded version of the ZenFone 8 that debuted about nine months ago. There are no differences in specifications and features but configuration options do differ.
The Asus 8z sports a 5.9-inch Full HD+ AMOLED punch-hole display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 20:9 aspect ratio, and HDR10+ support. Under the hood, it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor coupled with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM. It is available with 128GB UFS 3.1 onboard storage but no microSD card slot.
The phone has dual rear cameras featuring a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS). The other sensor is a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 ultra-wide one with dual-phase detection autofocus. The front camera is a 12-megapixel Sony IMX663 sensor housed within the punch-hole.
The whole package is powered by a 4,000mAh battery with 30W HyperCharge fast charging. It also has an in-display fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port, and 3.5mm headphone jack. It will boot ZenUI 8 based on Android 11 out of the box.
The Asus 8z is priced at INR 42,999 (about $570) for the sole 8GB/128GB configuration option. It will be sold in Horizon Silver and Obsidian Black colors starting March 7th via Flipkart.
