MediaTek launches Dimensity 8100, Dimensity 8000, Dimensity 1300 chipsets

02 March 2022 0

MediaTek has debuted three new processors in its Dimensity lineup. These are Dimensity 8100, Dimensity 8000, and Dimensity 1300 with each of them being 5G compatible. The first two processors are almost identical except for a few differences here and there. The third one is simply a successor to Dimensity 1200 from the last year.

Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity 8000

Both Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity 8000 are octa-core processors based on the 5nm manufacturing process. These include four Cortex-A78 performance cores and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. The only difference is that performance cores are clocked at 2.85GHz and 2.75GHz respectively. There is a Mali-G610 MC6 GPU for handling graphics-intensive tasks.

As per official claims, Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity 8000 managed to hit 170fps and 140fps respectively on the GFXBench Manhatten test. Both are capable of offering up to 168Hz refresh rate at Full HD+ resolution but with 8100, there is also support for WQHD+ resolution at 120Hz. This is achieved with the help of the MiraVision 780 display engine. There is support MediaTek's own HyperEngine 5.0 that should help deliver smoother frame rates and improved efficiency.

The chipsets are compatible to work with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The display tech further supports HDR10+ Adaptive and 4K AV1 video decoders. In the camera department, it is capable of shooting up to 4K HDR10+ videos at 60fps with a single camera and HDR videos from two cameras at the same time. It can support up to 200-megapixel sensors, 2x lossless zoom, and HDR imaging along with AI-powered noise reduction.

There is obviously support for 5G connectivity where it also offers 5G+5G Dual SIM, Dual Standby mode. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.3, WiFi 6E (2x2), and Bluetooth LE Audio with Dual-Link True Wireless Stereo Audio.

Dimensity 1300

The Dimensity 1300 is exactly the same as last year's Dimensity 1200 except for a few performance improvements. It is specifically said to deliver improvements in NPU performance. This should result in better night mode photos and HDR processing with artificial intelligence.
