Pixel feature drop adds Live Caption to calls, Night Sight in Snapchat, and more

08 March 2022 0

As it has become a tradition in the past few months, Google has released a new Pixel feature drop which as you would expect is packed with new features. The latest drop coincides with the Android 12L launch, a tweaked OS version meant for large screen devices like foldables and tablets.

Google has now expanded Live Caption support to phone calls. The feature will show captions of whatever the other person is saying on the other end. You can then choose to respond by typing and that will be read out loud to the other person. This will be a convenient feature for people who cannot speak or listen. It can be enabled by pressing the volume button and tapping the Live Caption icon after the call has been picked.

One of the cool camera features that Pixel phones have is Night Sight. It helps users get clearer and better photos during the nighttime or whenever the lighting conditions are not that great. The team has now integrated Night Sight in Snapchat so that your snaps can look good even in low-light. However, it is limited to Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones.

Another feature exclusive to the Pixel 6 series is the new Intrepertor Mode available within Live Translate. It supports Spanish, French, and Italian where users can translate one-on-one conversation in real-time. It can even be used for identifying and translating Spanish conversations in videos and other media.

Google is improving Gboard with custom stickers support where your text message will be converted into a beautiful sticker. It is meant to add a personal touch to your conversations. Other new features include YouTube watch parties, sharing favorite apps with live sharing on Google Duo, a new Glance on Pixel widget with Bluetooth devices battery information, a new Pixel battery widget, and a new collection of wallpapers.
