Instagram livestream is quite useful for creators as it allows them to connect with their followers in a more personal way and that too in real-time. However, it also attracts a lot of online trollers who join streams with the sole goal of trolling and abusing. This is something that can ruin the whole experience for creators.
This is the reason Instagram has announced creators can now add moderators aka Mods to their livestreams. A mod has access to certain features that helps them maintain a positive environment. They have the power to report comments, remove viewers from livestream, and disable comments from a particular viewer. This way, they can ensure that only comments that are positive, relevant, and are in good taste appear on the stream.

We’re launching Live Moderator on Instagram Live, where creators can assign a mod and give them the power to:
✅ Report comments
✅ Remove viewers from Live
✅ Turn off comments for a viewer pic.twitter.com/S9j7s4dInB
It will be up to the creator to choose who could be a moderator on their stream. This can be done by tapping the three-dot icon in the comments bar when they are live. The app will automatically suggest a few accounts but the creator can also manually search for a particular account.
In other reports, Instagram is working on extending the time duration of Reels. The current time limit for creating a Reel is 60 seconds but the new under-consideration limit is of 90 seconds. This should give users more time to be creative instead of trying to cram everything in a one-minute clip.
