Motorola has launched the Moto Edge X30 Under Screen Camera Edition in China. It is the company's first-ever smartphone with an under-display selfie camera. This is the only new thing about the phone and the rest is identical to the Edge X30 that arrived about three months ago.
The new Motorola Edge X30 Under Screen Camera Edition is available in a single 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration. It is priced at CNY 3,999 (about $628) but can be pre-ordered for CNY 3,499 (about $550) for a limited time. The phone will go on sale starting March 30th. There are no words on whether the phone will become available in global markets.
The Motorola Edge X30 sports a 6.7-inch Full HD+ OLED punch-hole display with up to 144Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ content compatibility. The Special Edition variant does not have a punch-hole as it comes with under-display camera tech. Under the hood, it has the Snap 8 Gen 1 processor claimed to deliver up to 20% CPU performance boost, 30% GPU performance boost, and 400% AI performance boost as compared to the previous generation. These numbers have been shared by Motorola based on its own internal testing of the two chipsets.
The phone has a vertically-aligned triple camera setup featuring a 50-megapixel OmniVision sensor with OIS, a 50-megapixel ISOCELL ultra-wide sensor, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. It is capable of shooting videos in up to 8K resolution. The front camera on the phone is a 60-megapixel sensor. The whole package is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 68W fast charging. The phone will boot Android 12 out of the box.
