Motorola teases 125W charger; 'Frontier' launch appears imminent

23 March 2022 0

Motorola is commonly rumored to be working on a premium flagship codenamed "Frontier". It is said to be packed with high-end specifications including 125W super-fast charging speed. Even though we are yet to get any official acknowledgment, Motorola has started teasing a new 125W fast charger on social media.

Chen Jin, General Manager of Lenovo Mobile Phone Business Department in China, took it to Weibo and shared an image of the 125 fast charger. The charging brick has "125" branding over it which makes it clear that it is not your ordinary charger. The best part is that it is claimed to weigh only 130 grams. This makes it a lot lighter than many other chargers capable of offering charging speeds at the same level.

The alleged Motorola Frontier is claimed to have a 6.67-inch P-OLED curved display with a punch-hole. The panel will support 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ content, and DCI-P3 wide color gamut. The processor is said to be Qualcomm SM8475 which is assumed to be a sort of "Plus" variant of the current-gen Snap 8 Gen 1. The configuration options include 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, and 12GB RAM with 256GB storage.

The phone will have a triple camera setup on the back. The big circular camera in the render is the 200-megapixel sensor with OIS that we talked about in the beginning. It will be accompanied by a 50-megapixel wide-angle sensor and a 12-megapixel telephoto sensor with 2x zoom. The front camera will be a 60-megapixel sensor.

The battery capacity is reported to be 4,500mAh and with 125W wired fast charging and 30W/50W wireless charging. Other noteworthy features are said to include a USB Type-C port with DisplayPort 1.4, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and GPS. It will boot Android 12 out of the box and launch is tipped for July 2022.
