Vivo has officially unveiled its first-ever foldable smartphone Vivo X Fold in China. It is a complete feature-packed smartphone with a premium design and hinge mechanism. There are flagship-level specs and features that make it a worthy option for anyone interested in a high-end foldable.
The Vivo X Fold features an inward folding mechanism similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. It sports a 6.53-inch Full HD+ Samsung E5 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ on the outside. The display on the inside measures 8.03-inches and offers 2K resolution, HDR10+, and 120Hz refresh rate. It is a Samsung E5 LTPO AMOLED panel.
Vivo refers to the hinge design as an aerospace-grade floating wing hinge which will essentially allow the display to stay flat and fold without leaving any gaps in between. It can also be opened at any angle between 60-degree and 120-degree. The phone is claimed to have been tested for withstanding 300,000 folds.
Under the hood, the foldable is powered by Qualcomm's Snap 8 Gen 1 processor. There is a single 12GB of RAM but storage options include 256GB and 512GB. There are four cameras on the back panel which is headlined by a 50-megapixel sensor with f/1.75 aperture. Other cameras include a 48-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, a 12-megapixel depth sensor, and an 8-megapixel periscope sensor with 5x optical zoom.
It has two 16-megapixel sensors with f/2.45 aperture that work as front cameras. One of the sensors is on the inside and another is on the outer display. The battery capacity of the device is a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging and 55W wireless fast charging support. The foldable has dual in-display fingerprint scanners, 5G connectivity, USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and WiFi 6.
The Vivo X Fold is currently exclusive to the Chinese market with no words on the global release yet. It is priced at CNY 8,999 (about $1,412) for the 12GB/256GB variant and at CNY 9,999 (about $1,570) for the 12GB/512GB variant.
