Google keeps announcing new Android Auto features quite regularly but it can take its sweet time when it comes to the actual rollout. One such feature is Smart Reply which was announced for Android Auto in December 2021 and after almost four months, it is finally making its way to the users (at least some of them).
Android Auto smart reply function works when you tap on the incoming message notification to have it read aloud. It will now show you one or two short reply suggestions while the message is being read. It may even offer emojis as replies depending on what message you have received. You can then tap on the preferred suggestion to send the reply without having to speak.
There is also a Custom Reply option for the times when you do not want to use any of the suggested replies. It will let you send a reply using your voice and that too without waiting for Google Assistant to read the whole message. The feature is currently spotted by select beta-testers which means there is still time before it becomes available for everyone.
Google has been improving Android Auto constantly with new feature releases every now and then. It added dual-SIM support fairly recently. It lets dual-SIM users choose their preferred carrier while making a call. This is exactly similar to how dual-SIM Android smartphones work and is a very useful feature to have.
