TikTok LIVE Subscription announced, will be live from May 26

25 May 2022 0

It is a well-known fact that creator-focused platforms keep looking for ways to help them earn revenue. This allows platforms to keep their best content creators as well as attract new ones. With the same goal, TikTok has announced LIVE Subscription which will help creators on the app earn money through their followers.

LIVE Subscription will allow users to support their favorite creators by becoming a member of their respective subscriptions. It is currently available as an invite-only method as it is in the beta stage. It means unless a creator has been invited to the program by TikTok itself, there is no way to enable the subscription. All invited creators will see a toggle to turn on the subscription starting May 26th i.e. tomorrow.

TikTok says there are currently three perks available as part of LIVE Subscription. All paying subscribers will receive a special badge that will be displayed next to their names. These badges can be upgraded over time it has not been explained in what way. There will be custom emotes that creators can get designed for their subscribers. These custom emotes can then be used during LIVE sessions. Lastly, creators can choose to have subscriber-only chats during live sessions during which non-subscribers will not be able to send messages.

The company has plans to expand LIVE Subscription to all creators but has not specified a timeline for the same. It will also add more perks to the subscription to make it more lucrative for users. Once the subscription will expand to all, a creator will need to be at least 18 years old and have a minimum of 1,000 followers to be eligible.
