Snapchat gets Shared Stories where you can collab with friends of friends

30 May 2022 0

Snapchat has announced a new feature called Shared Stories to promote collaborative sharing on the platform. The feature is a modified version of an older feature Custom Stories. This previous feature allowed users to collaborate with their friends but with the improved offering, even friends of friends will be able to collaborate on stories.

The announcement post reveals that Snapchat users who are part of a group can now invite their respective friends. These invited friends can then not only view but also contribute to stories. However, Snapchat has removed the chat functionality from the Shared Stories feature. This makes sense as not all invited members of a group would know each other.

All Shared Stories will get deleted after 24 hours similar to how normal stories work. A combination of automatic language detection and new community review tools will be used to ensure that these stories are safe and fun. The app will notify users when they have been added to a Shared Story featuring someone they have blocked. They can then choose to leave such a story if they wish to.

The feature rollout has already begun and should become available for all Snapchatters sooner than later. It is advised that you ensure that you are using the latest version of the app. You can check for pending updates via Google Play Store and App Store on Android and iOS devices respectively.
