HTC has confirmed that it will release a "Viverse" smartphone on June 28th. The launch poster for the phone does not reveal anything substantial about the phone. It only mentions the name Viverse and the event date. It appears to be the metaverse-focused smartphone that we heard about in the past.
It has been a long time since HTC released an Android flagship. Its last such release was the HTC U12+ which arrived about four years ago. This new Viverse smartphone is expected to be a flagship device. This makes sense considering HTC will need high-end specifications to support multiverse-related content and applications.
While the metaverse aspect does make it a unique device, it is unknown exactly what it means. We do not know what kind of experience we will get with the smartphone. There are rumors that it will surely have integration with the HTC Vive Flow VR headset. We know that Vive is HTC's lineup of virtual reality headsets and as a result, Viverse appears to be a combination of the headsets with metaverse in some way.
HTC was originally planning to announce the phone in April. The launch was delayed due to supply chain issues and it got pushed back by a couple of months. The newly revealed launch date is just a couple of weeks away and we should get answers to all our questions soon enough.
