HTC was anticipated to release a metaverse-focused smartphone for the past couple of months and now, it has finally been made official. The phone is called the Desire 22 Pro which is a mid-range device in terms of specifications. The main selling point of the smartphone is that it has metaverse-focused features.
The Desire 22 Pro is claimed to be the perfect companion smartphone for the HTC Vive Flow VR headset. It is also completely compatible with HTC's Viverse ecosystem. It will let users access virtual metaverse content directly from the phone and through a connected HTC Vive VR headset. The phone also has a digital wallet that can be used to manage crypto wallets and NFTs. HTC also appears to be giving free NFT to users in certain markets.
In terms of specifications, the Desire 22 Pro sports a 6.6-inch Full HD+ (2412 x 1080 pixels) punch-hole display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor which is also 5G compatible. The phone is available in a single configuration of 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage.
There is a triple camera setup on the back panel. It includes a 64-megapixel primary sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. The front camera on the phone is a 32-megapixel sensor. The whole package is powered by a 4,520mAh battery and will boot Android 12 out of the box. It has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance and also supports wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
HTC has priced the Desire 22 Pro at £399 for the sole 8GB/128GB configuration. It will be sold in Black and Gold color options with sales starting August 1st.
