Spotify has announced a new personalization feature called Supergrouper. It will let users create a virtual band of their favorite artists which is essentially a custom playlist. The announcement says the feature will give users an opportunity to see an on-stage-like collaboration among their favorite artists which may never happen in the real life.
A new Supergroup can be created by visiting the dedicated Supergrouper webpage on a mobile web browser. A user will have to choose between three to five artists. Each artist can be given a virtual role like The Lead, The Lyricist, and The Hypeman. You can either search for a particular artist or let Spotify randomly pick artists based on your listening habits.
Once all artists have been selected, it is time to give your virtual band a name. This will also be the name of the playlist that will become available within the Spotify app. This is all you need to do and you can start listening to your Supergroup. There is also an option to share it with your friends and anyone that you want to share it with.
Spotify says Supergrouper is currently available for users in the U.S., the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines. It has advised that users ensure they are using the app's latest version.
