Google has started rolling out the Duo app's merger version with Meet. The announcement about the change was made earlier last month and has kicked off the release. The changes are visible with the latest Duo update v169.0.459621665 available through the Google Play Store. The release is yet to begin for iOS users but even if you are on Android, you may not see it right away.
Those who have received the change are seeing an alert banner at the top and right below the search box. The banner says Duo is getting even better and then offers a description. It explains the change as, "Your Duo app will become Meet, with a new name and icon, and more features like background effects". There are a few visual changes to the application UI yet.
The floating action button now says New instead of Call. Tapping the button will give new features i.e. Create a new meeting and Schedule in Google Calendar. These features have been borrowed from Meet which shows that the merger is underway. It is part of Google's goal of offering all video calling solutions from a single place.
