When WhatsApp introduced support for reactions, it limited them to pre-selected six emojis. This led to a common request from users that they should be allowed to use any emoji as a reaction. The wait for the change is finally over as WhatsApp has announced it is now possible to react to messages using any desired emoji.

The announcement was shared by Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of WhatsApp's parent company Meta. He said, “We’re rolling out the ability to use any emoji as a reaction on WhatsApp.” The same post shows some of his favorite emojis too. The process for using emoji reactions is similar where you need to press and hold on the message you want to react to. Next up, you will see a new + sign next to the preset six emojis. Tapping the new sign will show you a complete list of all the emojis that you can browse and choose the preferred emoji.

It should be noted that the expansion of WhatsApp emoji reactions is not available for everyone yet. This is likely due to the gradual rollout where a small group of users receives the change first. If you have not received the new feature, ensure that you are using the latest WhatsApp version.

In other changes, WhatsApp recently made changes to privacy settings related to your profile photo, about, and last seen. It now lets you create a list of contacts who will be able to see these details of your account. Anyone outside this list will not be able to see your profile picture, last seen status, and about section details.
