WhatsApp is one of those instant messaging apps that allow users to delete messages even after they have been sent. It is meant to help users avoid situations where they may have sent a message to someone they did not mean to. The time duration for the feature to work was a little more than 1 hour but has now been expanded.
As per the announcement made via the official Twitter account, WhatsApp has confirmed it is now possible to delete sent messages even after two hours. The exact time duration is unknown but is said to be a little over two hours. This should give users plenty of time to decide whether they should delete a particular message.

One important thing to note is that both the user and the recipient should be using the latest WhatsApp version for the newly extended window to come into effect. Similarly, if you wish to use the feature in a group chat, all members of that group should have the latest version. Otherwise, the message will not get deleted for users who are on an older version and you will not be notified about the same either.
In other news, WhatsApp is said to be testing a new feature where users will be able to add voice notes to status updates. All voice note status updates will be end-to-end encrypted for maintaining user privacy. The feature is currently available only to Android beta testers but should expand to other platforms as well.
