Sony announced a new DualSense Edge wireless controller for PlayStation 5 users. The way it is different from the standard DualSense controller is that it comes with loads of customization options. It is similar to how Microsoft offers the Xbox Elite controller. The new controller will allow users to customize a lot of things via hardware and software modifications for a personalized gaming experience.
The DualSense Edge controller will let users remap each of the buttons and even disable them if needed. They can also tweak the stick sensitivity and dead zones. The latter is the distance that an analog stick has to move before it gets recognized by the game as an input. This distance can be reduced by gamers for a quick response which is beneficial in shooting games.
The good thing is that players can create multiple profiles of customized controls. Each profile can be assigned to a particular game and can be switched on the fly via a dedicated button. There are three types of swappable stick caps called standard, high dome, and low dome for a comfortable grip while gaming. There are also half-dome and lever swappable back buttons which can be remapped to any other button at will.
The controller supports charging via a USB Type-C cable and comes bundled with a braided one. There is a carrying case that also lets you charge the controller while it is inside the case. Sony is yet to announce DualSense Edge wireless controller pricing and availability details.
