Snapchat's in-app camera is already packed with various features that make sharing snaps a lot more fun. It has announced a new Dual Camera feature to give users one more way to get creative. It will allow users to shoot videos from both the front and rear cameras at the same time and share the footage with others.
Dual Camera is accessible as a new option within the camera toolbar after launching the Snapchat app. It is represented by an icon that shows two cameras layered over each other. Tapping the icon will give users an option to choose from four different layouts. These include vertical split, horizontal split, picture-in-picture, and cutout.
The first three layout options are self-explanatory. As for the cutout, it will cut out your body from the front camera footage and use the rear camera footage as the background. It will then layer the cutout over the background. Snapchat users can utilize existing creative tools like stickers, music, and Lenses for footage recorded via the Dual Camera feature.
Dual Camera functionality is currently exclusive to Snapchat's iOS app. It is specifically available on the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone SE, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. The company has plans to expand it to other iPhone models and eventually to Android in the future.
