Xperia Stream cooling, streaming accessory debuted for Xperia 1 IV

12 September 2022 0

Sony has launched a new gaming accessory named Xperia Stream for Xperia 1 IV. It is a cooling accessory to keep the phone's temperature under control but also doubles up as a streaming rig. It is a single device meant to deliver both functionalities for smartphone gamers.

The Xperia Stream plugs into the back of the smartphone like any other smartphone cooling accessory. It features a bunch of connectivity ports including USB Type-C, HDMI, LAN, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It will connect with the smartphone using the USB Type-C port. There are no additional physical buttons or triggers which means users will have to play games only using the phone's display.

All users will be able to control different aspects including fan speed using the Game Enhancer application. It will further allow users to adjust display brightness and FPS count. It will even show various insights like CPU and GPU usage. You can get an idea of the application's usage through the image below.

The HDMI port of the accessory will allow users to output their games to an external monitor or TV. However, the output resolution will be limited to 1080p at 120fps. The Xperia Stream is priced at JPY 23,100 (about $160) in Japan. It can also be purchased as a bundle with the Xperia 1 IV for JPY 175,000 (about $1,125). The bundle is officially called Xperia 1 IV Gaming Edition.
